The Limitless Power of Love

There are too many times in our lives that, I believe, we limit God to the physical world: what we can see, hear, and touch. We even go so far as to limit God to anything we can think or imagine, that God maybe couldn't or wouldn't do those things.

Let's look at Ephesians 3:20 for a moment, let's reason through it. "Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us,". For those of us who are Christians, what that means is that we have TRUSTED our lives to Jesus. We have proclaimed that we want to know Him and walk in step with Him. Why did we do that? Well, at some point we heard the gospel message that we need Jesus as our savior and that works in unison with the prompting of the Holy Spirit, and we KNEW that Jesus is who He said He is: the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. In other words, all was created through Him, nothing came into being without Him, and it all ends with Him. Our lives are inevitably in His hands, whether we like to believe that or not, we can choose to befriend Him and get to know Him, or keep pushing Him away, which is really to befriend the enemy.

So, we trust Him at that point, supposedly with everything we are and everything we have, but do we really? How does that show up in our lives? Are we, for example, trusting Him with our money? We learned in VBS this past week, on the first night as a matter of fact, that God has the power to provide. Do we believe that? Most of us will say yes, but then live differently. It's because we only look at provision in the terms of how we want that provision. If we look at those LIVING in the Dominican Republic, they don't have 1% of the amenities that we do, but God is providing there, right?

Think of Luke 12:1-12. Our problem is that we have been brainwashed. We have been told for so long that we are the greatest nation ever, which I believe, in the sense of physical nations, we are. But we have been led to believe that we have done this on our own power. The only way this happened is because the people who founded this nation did it with God in mind first. That's also the reason we are going downhill, because we are now putting God last. Some will say, well we are told in the Scriptures that things are going to get worse before the end. That's true, we are told that, but we have to look at why. God was just telling the future, not that He would create the problems, but that the problems would exist.

So where is our place in all of this, do we have any power? You bet. Our power is submitting ourselves to God. It's in that belief that we all had when we first gave our lives to Jesus, that He can do all things, and even greater things than we can imagine! REVIVAL! Bringing the dead back to life. That's why prayer is so important, we pray in faith of His great power. We may pray for a certain outcome or desire but He, the Creator of all things, the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, knows how to answer that prayer, for His glory and with our best interests in mind. Not our best wishes in mind. You see, the best thing that can ever happen to us is this: Eternity in the Kingdom of God with God! That's the stuff right there! God has the power, and is exercising it daily. He also has the power to comfort, to heal, to forgive, because of His great love, through all the garbage that we have given Him in our lives. And that love is so powerful that He continues to ask us not to carry burdens but to bring them to Him daily. God's power in our lives is what we need, we can't make it through on our own, no matter how hard we might try. I pray for us to seek and experience that great, loving power He so willingly provides.
